31st October 2009 WTJFC v AFC Blackpool Result 2-1 12-0
Overall another good team effort with some outstanding individual performances by William Holmes and Matthew Parker, who both won Man of the Match trophies for their respective matches. William who was called upon to play in defence, and last week in goal, read the game and made vital interceptions at the right time although he was unlucky with a hairs-breadth decision on a challenge for the referee to see fit to award a penalty against us. William show great skill and determination at breaking forward, one time wrong footing several opposition players to cross a ball in to the box for Ben Rawcliffe to put away in the back of the net.
Matthew who is relatively new to the team and still on a learning curve, played another outstanding match for us making more crutial interceptions in defence against a team who were very strong at coming forward. Well done Mathew! A warm welcome to Alex Peters, who played his first match today and showed great promise with his all round ability. He closed the ball down well, got in some excellent challenges and had an excellent first game. Well done Alex . Keep it up!
Another mention should go to our goalkeeper in the first match Lewis Reilly, who helped to keep us in the game with a series of excellent saves and was a contender for the Man ofthe Match award. He also made an excellent save preventing a penalty kick from reaching the back of our net. Well done.
